What is the Recipe Ingredient Weight Calculator?

A cup does not have one universal weight for every cooking ingredient. One cup of flour weighs much less than one cup of honey because ingredients have different densities. Cups, tablespoons, and teaspoons measure volume, while grams and ounces measure weight.

Why cups do not always equal the same number of grams

How recipe scaling works

Recipe scaling changes every ingredient by the same serving ratio. For example, if a recipe serves 4 people and you want to make 6 servings:

Scale factor = Target servings / Original servings
Scale factor = 6 / 4 = 1.5×

Each ingredient amount is multiplied by 1.5. For example, 2 cups of flour become 3 cups, 1 cup of sugar becomes 1 1/2 cups, and 1/2 cup of butter becomes 3/4 cup.
