1. Privacy-First Architecture

TryFormatter is fundamentally different from other online tool platforms. Every formatter, converter, encoder, and utility runs entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript. We do not operate any processing servers.

When you paste JSON into our formatter, convert an image, decode a JWT, or use any of our 100+ tools — that data stays 100% on your device. It is processed in your browser's memory and never transmitted to us or any third party for transformation.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the absolute minimum data required to keep TryFormatter free and operational. We do NOT collect: your tool inputs or outputs, clipboard content you paste, files you upload for processing, or any personally identifiable information.

We DO collect: anonymous page-view analytics (pages visited, approximate region, browser type) via Google Analytics to understand how to improve the platform. This data is aggregated and never linked to an individual user.

3. Cookies & Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand general usage patterns — such as which tools are most popular and which regions use TryFormatter — so we can prioritize improvements. Google Analytics uses cookies for this purpose.

We use Google AdSense to serve non-intrusive ads that keep the platform free. AdSense may use cookies to show relevant advertisements based on your browsing history. You can opt out of personalised ads at any time by visiting Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com).

We also store your theme preference (light or dark mode) in your browser's localStorage. This key never leaves your device.

4. Local Storage & Browser Data

Some features such as Snippet Library and theme preference use your browser's localStorage to save data locally on your device. This data is never synced to our servers and is deleted when you clear your browser data.

We do not use session storage, IndexedDB, or any persistent browser storage for tool inputs or outputs.

5. Data Security

Because your tool data never reaches our servers, the security of your inputs is entirely dependent on the security of your own device and browser — which is the most secure architecture possible for an online tool.

Our website is served over HTTPS (TLS 1.3) to protect the page content itself from interception during delivery. API endpoints (e.g., sitemap, robots) do not accept any user data.

6. Third-Party Services

TryFormatter integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Google Analytics 4 — Usage analytics. Policy: policies.google.com/privacy

• Google AdSense — Ad delivery. Policy: policies.google.com/privacy

• Vercel — Hosting & CDN (serves the website files). Policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy

These services may collect anonymised telemetry data (IP address, referrer, user agent) for their own operational purposes as described in their respective policies.

7. Your Rights

Since we do not store personal data tied to you, there is nothing for us to delete, export, or correct on request. However, you have full control over:

• Browser cookies — You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings.

• localStorage — You can clear site data in your browser's developer tools or settings.

• Analytics opt-out — Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

If you are located in the EU/EEA, the UK, or California (CCPA), these rights are also guaranteed under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively.

8. Contact & Updates

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests related to this Privacy Policy, please reach out via our official channels listed on the About page.

We may update this policy periodically to reflect changes in the platform or applicable law. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date below. Continued use of TryFormatter after any change constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
